Background to the Closure of MASTERNET
MASTERNET, is a Zero, Inc. Internet provider service launched in 1996. In 1997 it was focused on the ¥10 Mail service for NTT DoCoMo 9,600bps data communication capable cell phones (mova), NTT DoCoMo Pocket Board and other e-mail devices. The service made it possible for the user to receive e-mail while they were away from their PC. Master Net also provides a large customer base with other unique services including the stock analysis site Master Chart.
However in recent years use of the NTT DoCoMo high speed data communication devices, FOMA has become more prevalent and the use of NTT DoCoMo Pocket Board and other e-mail devices is decreasing. For this reason all MASTERNET services will cease on the last day of February, 2008.
