GMO Media Releases Alpha Version of Photo Sharing and Wallpaper Making Site
Tokyo – December 17, 2007 – GMO Internet Group company, GMO Media announces the release today of the alpha version of Kabegami.com Shashinbu. Kabegami.com is a PC and mobile phone wallpaper portal site. The new Shashinbu allows users to upload photos and create their own wallpaper.
To celebrate the opening of Shashinbu we are giving away Ricoh GR DIGITAL II digital cameras. All members registered by the end of February 2008 are eligible to win.
Shashinbu – Development Background and Objectives
As digital cameras drop in price and digital single lens cameras become more popular it has become possible even for amateurs to take high quality photographs. Now that digital cameras have become a standard feature on mobile phones, taking pictures has become an everyday activity. As a result SNS with photo-upload capability and other photo-sharing sites are rapidly appearing on the Internet. However functionality of these sites is generally restricted to resizing the photograph and displaying a small image in a web browser.
We have developed Shashinbu for the amateur photographer that would like to see their work displayed on other desktops. This fun new site makes it easy to upload and share wallpaper-sized photographs.
Shashinbu
Shashinbu is a photo-sharing site that allows users to create wallpaper from uploaded photographs. This is a free service with no restrictions on the number or size of photo uploads. The site offers a host of other functions including a photo album feature and a space for leaving comments.

Wallpaper Size Selection Menu Select a screen size. (PSP®, iPod®touch etc.) You can also adjust the margins here. 3. Create Button After you have selected a size press this button and your wallpaper is complete! |
Features
(1) Wallpaper Creation - Quick Image Size Adjustment and Creation of Wallpaper for iPod® touch or PSP® When a user finds an image they like, they simply select a resolution and press the create button to download it. It is also possible to select a color for the space bordering the image and to trim the borders to the user’s desktop size. The site is not limited to PC desktop wallpaper, it is also easy to make mobile phone, PSP® (PlayStation Portable), and iPod® touch wallpaper. (2) Upload – Drag & Drop Photo Uploads Users of Internet Explorer 6 and 7 can upload files simply by dragging them from Explorer into their browser for fast upload of multiple images. (*ActiveX plugin required) (3) Comment – User Communication through Photo Comments Anyone who views images on Shashinbu can leave a comment. Users can view comments on their own photographs from their account page. (4) Photo Album – Album Creation from Uploaded Photos; Display Album on a Blog or Web Site Users select photos they have uploaded to display in an album. Each album has a URL enabling it to be pasted into a blog or web site. (5) Search – Title, Category, Camera, Sensitivity (ISO) Searches and more Searches may be limited to photos taken lengthways or sideways to find an image suited to a particular space. In addition to basic information like title, tag, category and location, searches by sensitivity (ISO) and other details are also possible. This feature is also useful for viewing other photographers work. |
Conditions of Use
Visitors may view photographs, create wallpaper and leave comments without registering as a member. However users who sign up as members (free of charge) have access to a range of fun features including album and profile page creation.
