Paperboy&co. and Ask.jp Launch Industry First Adobe AIR Video Upload Tool
Tokyo-January 29, 2008 – GMO Internet Group company, paperboy&co. in partnership with Ask.jp, today launches JUGEM Desktop for the free paperboy&co. blogging service, JUGEM. The new desktop tool includes DecoWaku API, the decorative frame application by Ask.jp, and makes it possible for users to upload video directly from their web cameras.
Launched in February 2004, the JUGEM blog service is known for its extensive range of design templates and an easy-to-understand interface that anyone can use. There are now over 600,000 bloggers on JUGEM. The new JUGEM Desktop tool runs on Adobe Systems Adobe® AIR® (Adobe Integrated Runtime) to make video uploads easier.
The First Ever Adobe AIR Video Upload Application in the Blogging Industry
Adobe AIR is an application runtime developed by Adobe Systems for desktop applications that use Adobe Flash®, PDF or HTML. It runs on any operating system or web browser and is regarded as technology that makes possible more sophisticated design and higher usability in applications.
JUGEM was fast to take on the Adobe AIR platform and is the first to provide an Adobe AIR desktop application. The new Adobe AIR DecoWaku developed by Ask.jp now makes it even easier to upload video.
Hideki Kojima, head of the Enterprise and Developer department in the Adobe Systems Marketing division, made the following statement in regard to the application. “ The two companies have been quick to recognize the revolutionary nature of Adobe AIR and to develop and release applications. We are looking forward to the many users of JUGEM experiencing Adobe AIR while uploading and viewing video following the introduction of an Adobe AIR API for JUGEM Desktop.”
Video Upload Application – Easy Video Sharing
In addition to being able to upload videos from their JUGEM administration screen, users can now record video on a web camera and upload it using only JUGEM Desktop. From recording to uploading the process is simple and easy to use from the very first time.
Uploaded video can be posted as a blog entry from the blog administration screen and users can select a frame design to match their blog using the DecoWaku video decoration function.
We also plan to add comment and trackback functions to JUGEM Desktop as part of our objective to provide a comprehensive blog management application that bloggers allows bloggers to manage their site without having to access the administration screen.
