iSLE Launches Managed Server Service
Tokyo – March 6, 2008 – GMO Hosting & Security hosting brand, iSLE today launches Managed Server Service. Customers who take advantage of this service can have their server, OS, middleware, etc. operated and managed by iSLE. GMO Hosting & Security is a GMO Internet Group company.
Under the new Managed Server Service iSLE, a hosting business service with over ten years server operation and management experience, holds root authority (*1) and handles dedicated server operation and management. This service is ideal for dedicated server users looking to upgrade website capacity or improve the server technology necessary to protect against increasing cyber crime. It can also be used for the operation and management of large scale server systems built up through the introduction of ASP and SaaS software.
The Managed Server Service server environment is constructed using multiple servers, Linux OS, and middleware to create an optimal system for each customer’s needs.
(*1) Root authority: UNIX OS administrator authority - makes possible unrestricted access to all files regardless of access authority settings.
Managed Server Service Features
(1) Major Reduction in System Construction, Operation and Administration Costs
Labor costs aside, set up fees alone for a dedicated housing service featuring a half rack, 10 mb/s speed line, 2 CPUs, 3 switches, Firewall and, 2 routers operated and managed by specialist technicians can often run into several millions of yen and monthly fees are often over a million yen a month (according to our own research). The Managed Server Service offers construction, operation and management of the above system for between 200,000 and 500,000 yen and set up for between 500,000 and 1 million yen.
(2) SaaS Platform Possibilities
A server built to optimize software operation and a secure environment help to ensure stable 24-hour-a-day, 365-day-a-year server operation. Managed Server Service allows SaaS and ASP vendors to outsource time-consuming server operation and management so they can stay focused on their core software development business.

iSLE Managed Server Service services include System Operation: Full Outsourcing Service for customization that allows customers to select the functions they outsource, the existing and much in demand Surveillance/ Trouble Detection Package, Server Configuration Package and Hot Standby Administration Package.
