GlobalSign Announces New Site Seal Design
Tokyo - March 11, 2008 – GMO Hosting & Security consolidated subsidiary and digital certificate service provider, GlobalSign K.K. announces it will launch a new site seal with new features on March 24.
What is a Site Seal?
A site seal declares that an SSL server certificate has been issued and that the site has been authenticated, a service that adds further value our SSL server certificates. Displaying a site seal featuring the GlobalSign logo provides visitors to a site with visual confirmation that it is secured by a certificate authority issued SSL server certificate. It is also effective in fostering a strong sense of trust in a website.
The New Site Seal
GlobalSign is releasing its new, easy-to-understand seal that makes it even easier to let users know they are visiting a secure site and instill a greater peace of mind than ever before.
In addition to improved appearance and easier recognition of the SSL server certificate site seal the new seal offers many improvements including site verification through clicking on a seal to display web site profile. Flash® makes it possible for the seal to fit any site and customers can select from three different sizes. In addition, the SSL server certificate profile page that appears when the seal is clicked has also been redesigned. This page clearly displays the authentication level for each service and makes it easier than ever before for the user to understand exactly what is being authenticated. Until now GlobalSign customers throughout the world have used the same English language site seal. However it will be possible to display the new seal in several languages including Japanese. This will allow seals to be localized and used world wide. (Languages other than Japanese and English will be released at a future date in consultation with sales distributors in each market.)
Features of New Site Seal
●The words SSL Secured GlobalSign appear on the seal: visitors understand the purpose of the seal at a glance.
●A padlock symbol and new wording and show users the site is SSL encrypted.
●The text “Click Here to Verify” encourages visitors to view the web site profile.
●The new design incorporates Flash® animation and a transparent background making it easy to place on any web site.
●Customers can choose from three available sizes the seal that best matches their web site design
Transition to New Seal
●New script code is required to place a new site seal on a web site.
● Existing site seals will automatically be replaced by the small GIF seal (100x50 pixels) from March 24, 2008.
● Current script will cease to work on March 23, 2009 and the site seal will no longer be displayed.
*Please refer to the GlobalSign web site for details.
Ever since the service was launched GlobalSign has been quick to respond to customer demand, the new site seal is just one example of this responsiveness and shows why GlobalSign K.K. was able to make the transition from certificate distributor to certificate authority.
