GMO Tea Cup Communication Company Name Change
Tokyo – June 2, 2008 – Tea Cup Communication, the company that operates the GMO Internet Group comprehensive Internet community, teacup announces that following a change of company name on June 1st it became GMO Tea Cup Communication, Inc. At the same time company headquarters have been relocated to Taito ku in Tokyo.
Since it was established in August 2000 GMO Tea Cup Communication has developed the pioneering free discussion board service, teacup, the blog service teacup blog “Auto Page”, and other community services for individuals. In 2004 we joined the GMO Internet Group providing a stable environment in which to take advantage of sophisticated technology and continue providing a communication space with broad appeal. In 2007 we applied our technical skill and community services management experience to establishing a Second Life virtual world business.
The company has changed its name to GMO Tea Cup Communication, Inc. to deepen relationships within the GMO Internet Group and boost its image in the corporate services market.
Going forward, GMO Tea Cup Communication will continue to build its corporate services and Second Life business in addition to communication services for individuals. The linking of teacup services with other GMO Internet Group services will also further strengthen group synergy in consumer services.
