JWord Launches Area Specific Keyword Service
Tokyo – July 15, 2008 – GMO Internet Group company, JWord operator of the service of the same name, today launches the area-targeted advertising service Gotouchiword.jp
Gotouchiword.jp is a new Internet advertising product that in addition to the functions of existing contextual advertising, also determines the location of the Internet user at partner portal sites.

Gotouchiword.jp is a new product that offers advertisers the opportunity to purchase search keywords in specific geographic areas. When a search is conducted from a JWord partner portal site the user’s location is identified and advertisements are displayed accordingly contributing to higher click-through rates for advertisers. The Gotouchiword.jp icon is displayed next to the advertisement further increasing visibility.
When a client purchases a search keyword they specify the area (prefecture) in which the advertisement will be displayed. This makes advertising more effective as it is possible to create advertisements that appeal to a specific group of users. Exposure is high as partnerships have already been established with many search portal sites and this is the only advertising product of its kind available at a fixed rate.
Using Gotouchiword.jp
For example, a real estate agency in Tokyo registers the keyword “apartment” and specifies the area Tokyo. A user in Tokyo then logs onto the Internet and conducts a search from a JWord partner portal site using the term “apartment”. A link to the Tokyo real estate agency is then displayed with the Gotouchiword.jp icon and the keyword “apartment” in the area sponsored by JWord.

Advertisements are related to the search term and searches are conducted in a way the user is already accustomed to so advertisers can expect exposure that exceeds other content-matched area targeting type advertising.
When the service is first launched it will determine the user’s location by IP Address. However, going forward JWord will make the service even more effective by offering area related keywords and using multiple factors to determine the user’s location.
Determining the IP Address
Gotouchiword.jp uses the SURFPOINT™ database by Cyber Area Research, Inc. to determine the location of domestic ISP users. This company is establishing itself as the undisputed leader in Japan in constructing an IP Geolocation system; user location recognition technology.
