Onamae.com Launches New Partner Program for Intellectual Property Management
Tokyo – July 29, 2008 – GMO Internet official ICANN*1 domain registrar, Onamae.com announces the launch today of the new partner program, Protect Partner. Protect Partner (self-managed system) is the ideal partner system for customers that want to collectively manage domains from around the world to manage and protect intellectual property.
*1: ICANN (Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers) American non-profit organization responsible for the global management of Internet domain names and IP addresses. It also holds the authority to designate official domain registration companies.
What is a partner system?
In addition to providing domain registration services, Onamae.com has introduced partner programs for domain resellers and partners that want to collectively manage their own domains. We offer five partner programs from easy domain sales and management to programs for full-fledged domain registration agencies. Partners can select from the Light, Basic, Portal, Advanced and now the Protect Partner programs. Onamae.com provides back-up for each program so no specialist domain knowledge is required.
What is the new intellectual property management Protect Partner program?
Internationally, in recent years companies have begun to treat domains in the same way as trademarks and it is now becoming common practice to register multiple domain names for the management and protection of intellectual property. In Japan too, companies are gradually beginning to view domains as intellectual property and as a result are registering more domains for the protection of their own intellectual property.
The new Protect Partner program can be used to manage and protect intellectual property or to collectively manage domains even from within the domain reseller partner programs.

As well as Onamae.com domains it is now possible to handle many foreign domains and to manage them collectively. This service dramatically reduces domain management costs for companies that own domains in multiple countries.

(2) Automatic Updating of Domain Contracts
Each domain can be set to automatic renewal to prevent suspension as a result of a forgotten contract update. The automatic update setting is accessible from the Onamae.com domain management tool, Domain Navi.
(3) Monthly Invoicing
Fees are calculated at the end of each month and billing statements are sent out in the following month. The customer does not receive individual statements for each domain registration or update so less time is spent on tasks related to domain registration and update payments each month. This program is ideal for companies that manage multiple domains.
