Onamae.com Introduces New .ac .gs and .ms Domains
~Line-up now includes over 30 domains~
Tokyo – November 26, 2008 – GMO Internet official ICANN* domain registrar, Onamae.com yesterday began accepting registrations for three new domains (.ac .gs and.ms”) bringing its total line-up to over 30 domains.
* ICANN (Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers) American non-profit organization responsible for the global management of Internet domain names and IP addresses. It also holds the authority to designate official domain registration companies.
About the .ac .gs and .ms Domains
.ac is the ccTLD (country code top-level domain) for Ascension Island in the South Atlantic, .gs is the ccTLD for South Georgia and the South Sandwich Islands also in the South Atlantic, and .ms is the ccTLD for Montserrat, a volcanic island in the Caribbean Sea.
New Domain Details
.ac | One-year registration Individuals and organizations offering educational programs can use the .ac domain to represent “Academic” without the restrictions imposed on second-level domains like .ac and .edu. |
.gs | One-year registration This domain can be used to represent an abbreviation of terms such as Gas Station. |
.ms | One-year registration The .ms domain offers an alternative to .mobi for “mobile sites”. This domains is recommended for web promotions directed at mobile phone users because it is shorter and easier to enter than .mobi. |
