GMO Solution Partner Launches Conversion V ASP LPO Service
Tokyo – April 1, 2009 – GMO Internet Group e-commerce solution provider, GMO Solution Partner, announces the official launch today of Conversion V, an ASP type LPO*1 service for improving conversions (actions such as a product purchase or service application from a web site).
*1 LPO (Landing Page Optimization): is a method of reducing bounce rate, increasing the number of users who continue on deeper into the site, and improving the rate of actions such as sales and registrations. This is achieved by automatically displaying information optimized for certain visitor parameters including search query, IP address, and time.
Background to the Service Launch
Currently, in order to run a successful web site or online store it is generally necessary to invest in SEO*2, SEM*3 or other means to increase the number of visitors to a site. However, while SEO or SEM will increase visitors, it has no direct impact on conversions, and in many cases is not the most cost effective solution. One of the major reasons that visits don’t translate into conversions is that site visitors have difficulty locating the information they are looking for and consequently leave the site.
As well as methods for attracting site visitors, web site operators also need to consider methods for guiding users to relevant pages and reducing bounce rates. LPO services that address these issues are often out of reach of SMEs and individuals due to the cost and technical skill required.
*2 SEO (Search Engine Optimization): is a method of improving and optimizing the content of a website with the objective of achieving a prominent position in the search results display on major portal site search engines.
*3 SEM (Search Engine Marketing): marketing methods aimed at attracting visitors to web sites from search engines, includes keyword-related advertising and listing advertising.
Conversion V: Improving Conversions
GMO Solution Partner has developed Conversion V, a low-cost ASP type LPO service. The service automatically generates and displays a navigation banner optimized according to the visitor’s actions to guide them through a site and increase conversions.
1. No technical knowledge required! Easy-to-use navigation bar generation
To create a navigation banner that guides visitors to the information they seek, simply access the administration screen and select a design template, font, color, and layout. Five hundred banner designs and 1,400 templates are available. Templates and copy are customizable.
2. Guide visitors directly to relevant pages
The navigation banner can be customized with detailed display conditions aligned with the physical location of the visitor. Factors used to optimize the banner include queries entered into search engines, number of accesses, geographical location, time, and URL of the site from which the visitor arrives. The banner guides users to the information they seek, reducing bounce rates.
3. Discover the optimal format for guiding visitors through your site
Run a creative test*4 by displaying different copy and designs to visitors with same access conditions to compare and analyze banners and find out which are most effective. Results can be accessed from the administration screen and used to optimize guidance.

Reference: Test service achieves 1.3x increase in conversion rate
Prior to the official release of the service, GMO Solution Partner tested Conversion V with a number of companies. One online supplements store was facing crushing competition and its inability to differentiate itself was impacting on sales. We began by creating a free sample page as a solution for increasing conversions. Using the Conversion V search query function, we matched products and terms such as “supplements for high blood-pressure” and “dietary supplements” to create a navigation bar. In approximately two months, the number of free samples acquired increased from 85 to 115, and the conversion rate was up from 4% to 5.2%.
