GMO-PG Credit Card Payment Processing Function Added to e-shiharai University Exam Fee Payment Service
Tokyo – August 10, 2009 -- GMO Internet Group non-face-to-face credit card payment processing company, GMO Payment Gateway announces today it will provide credit card payment processing services to e-shiharai.net, an OPT Japan Co. Ltd. service that handles payment of examination fees to both public and private universities.
As a result, students will have the option of paying exam fees by credit card. The service will first be available to for the University of Tokyo post-graduate school entrance examinations in 2010.
Outline
The University of Tokyo will accept credit card payment of graduate school entrance exam fees beginning in 2010 for the first time in Japan. The services will initially be available to international examinees beginning at the end of July 2009 and will be extended to prospective students within Japan in August.
Paying entrance examination fees by credit card, unlike the existing bank transfer method offers a number of advantages including the convenience of being able to pay online from anywhere, anytime as well as the opportunity to ear points or mileage offered by their credit card company. In addition, the new service means international students are no longer dependant on inconvenient international bank transfers.
For universities accepting credit card payments increases administrative efficiency and allows them to provide a convenient option for students returning from studying abroad.
About Credit Card Payment of Examination Fees
GMO Payment Gateway’s credit card payment processing infrastructure will allow students to pay examination fees by credit card through the Opt Japan service e-shiharai site for the University of Tokyo post graduate school.
E-shiharai accepts not only examination fee payments but also convenience store payments to educational institutions including course fees, lecture fees, distance education fees.
