GMO Internet Group Celebrates Surpassing One Million Active Domain Registrations with Onamae.com 100 yen Domain Registration Campaign
Tokyo – August 25, 2009 -- GMO Internet Group has achieved over one million (*1) active domain registrations (1.7 million accumulated domain registrations)
In celebration of this milestone, ICANN (*3) accredited domain registrar, Onamae.com is offering one year registration of .com, .net, .org,, .info, and .biz domains at 100 yen (89% off the current price) until 6pm tomorrow evening.
(*1) Active domains: Domains with current registration in active use.
(*2) 1.7 million accumulated domains: Total number of domains registered by the four group services Onamae.com (GMO Internet) MuuMuu Domain (paperboy & co.), iSLE (GMO Hosting & Security), and RapidSite (GMO Hosting & Security)
(*3) ICANN (The Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers) American non-profit organization responsible for the global management of Internet domain names and IP addresses. It also holds the authority to designate official domain registration companies.
(*4) In a separate campaign Onamae.com is already offering these five domains at the reduced price of 920 yen until 12pm on September 10.
Domain Registration Trends
A number of domain registration services operate within the GMO Internet Group including Onamae.com operating since 1999 and MuuMuu domain launched in 2004. In addition to the proliferation of corporate and individual websites, the growth in group domain registrations is attributable to the high level of customer satisfaction we have achieved by providing functionality and pricing structures that allow customers to conveniently register domains. Our services have continued to grow each year since they were launched and we now register over 1,000 new domains every day. As a result the group has now achieved in excess of 1 million active domain registrations (please refer to the graph below) and 1.7 million accumulated registrations.
