paperboy&co. Takes on Book Review Community BookLog and Announces Site Revamp
Tokyo -October 8, 2009 -- GMO Internet Group company, paperboy&co. announces the official release today of the revamped BookLog service. BookLog is a book review community site that allows users to create their own bookshelves and share reviews and recommendations.
BookLog, a service until now personally operated by paperboy&co. CCO, Kazuma Ieiri was first launched in September 2004. The most attractive feature of the service is a real bookshelf interface on which users can display items including books, CDs and DVDs. One of the largest book review community sites in Japan, there are now over 11 million items published on the service by over 200,000 users (9/2009).
Building Partnerships with Blogs, Micro Blogs and Ecommerce Services
A bookshelf created with BookLog can be easily pasted into a blog or web page and we believe the service will be widely adopted by users of paperboy&co. web hosting and blog services. We plan to create stronger links between BookLog and other paperboy&co. community services including JUGEM, Logpi, and online shopping mall, Calamel.
Going forward we will seek to form partnerships with other services in anticipation of growth in book sales in the ecommerce market.
Even Easier Bookshelf Management
New features have been added to make bookshelf management easier. For users who want more control over their bookshelf appearance we have made it possible to rearrange items and add detailed tags using keywords. Other new features include the ability to add a status to each book (“I want to read this” “I’m reading this now” or “I’ve finished reading this”) providing the user not only with the ability to manage books they have already read, but also books they are planning to read.
