Unique SSL Introduced for Increased Security on Onamae.com Premier Server Linux
Tokyo – April 2, 2007 --Onamae.com, the official ICANN* domain registrar operated by GMO Internet, has today introduced a new optional feature with rental server service, Onamae.com Premier Server Linux. The new Unique SSL option, provided by GeoTrust Japan offers an even more secure server environment.

In recent years, with increasing activity on the Internet, the number of companies operating websites and online stores has increased dramatically. This has led to an increase in personal information being handled over the Internet as users shop online, register as members of sites and complete surveys. Personal information is now transmitted over the Internet on a daily basis. At the same time, incidences of information leakage and phishing are increasing in Japan and there is greater demand for systems that ensure the secure handling of information. In fact we have reached a point where this is a factor that stands to have fact a major impact on corporate image and customer satisfaction.
In response to customer demand for greater security of the environment in which they operate their websites, Onamae.com has introduced an optional Unique SSL service with the Onamae.com Premier Server Linux plan. The certificates are GeoTrust Quick SSL Premium certificates that enable up to 256 bit SSL encryption. GeoTrust has issued over 500,000 electronic certificates. The option provides greater security of private customer information handled over the Internet and increases user confidence in a website.
Unique SSL Service Outline
Unique SSL is an Internet security function that encrypts data handled over the Internet enabling it to be securely transmitted. Inquiry forms, surveys and other data that may contain personal information are encrypted and this prevents information being falsified or leaked to a third party. This option is essential for those operating websites that handle personal user information such as online stores and sites that offer a document request service, inquiry forms or membership registration.
