paperboy&co. Launches BookLog Android Application
Tokyo – May 13, 2010 – GMO Internet Group company paperboy&co. today launches a new Android application for its book review community, BookLog.
BookLog: Book Review Community
BookLog is an online book review community featuring a bookshelf interface that allows users to display books, CDs, DVDs and other items. One of the biggest communities of its kind in Japan, 260,000 users have registered over 15 million items. (4/2010)
Since its launch BookLog has been downloaded around 44,000 times (5/2010) via PC, mobile and the new iPhone application released on March 15 this year.
Barcode reader: manage bookshelves from your Android phone
Like the PC, mobile and iPhone versions of BookLog, the Android application allows users to post reviews and register books, CDs, DVDs, and other items. Find that book you wanted to read wherever you are, check out other users’ bookshelves and read reviews before purchasing books.
BookLog for Android features the same barcode reader tool as the iPhone version, allowing users to add books to their bookshelves auitomatically by scanning using the ISBN code. (The application “QR Code Scanner” must be separately installed to use this feature).
Focus on Usability: Voice Search
BookLog is focused on delivering a positive user experience. Entering text on a mobile device is not as easy as typing on a computer, and so for the first time the Android version of BookLog features voice search capability. Simply say the title of a book or the name of an author into your Android phone to automatically display search results. (The Google voice search application is required to use this feature.)
