GMO Internet Launches GREE Cloud powered by GMO
GMO Internet offers US developers and content providers a cloud based hosting solution optimized for distributing apps to the Japan market
Tokyo – June 6, 2011 – GMO Internet Inc. today announces the launch of GREE Cloud powered by GMO, a cloud based solution optimized to host apps for Japanese mobile social gaming platform GREE. GREE Cloud powered by GMO is aimed at developers and content providers in the US who are looking to distribute apps to the Japanese market.
GMO Internet, in partnership with GREE first launched GREE Cloud powered by GMO in the local Japanese market in December 2010 as part of the GREE partner program. GREE is one of Japan‘s largest social gaming platforms.
Now in line with the global expansion of the GREE platform and its developer support program, GMO Internet is helping developers in the US take advantage of the opportunities presented by the social apps market in Japan with the provision of GREE Cloud powered by GMO to the international market. Mobile users in Japan are significantly more likely to play games or interact with social content on mobile devices than their counterparts in the US or Europe. According to digital research firm comScore, 75% of users in Japan access the web, apps and other content from mobile devices compared to just 44% and 39% respectively in the US and Europe.

A Cloud Solution Optimized to Host Apps for the GREE Platform
For developers from outside Japan, finding the right hosting solution is often an obstacle to distributing apps via Japanese social apps platforms such as GREE. Choosing an offshore data center can lead to instability and latency issues. GREE Cloud powered by GMO is a high performance cloud solution optimized to host apps for the GREE social gaming platform with a data center located in Tokyo and proven expertise in managing social apps.
Activation in as fast as one day, free usage during staging
Service commences within one day for virtual servers and approximately one week for dedicated servers. Usage is free for virtual servers of all sizes during staging right up until the app is published to the GREE platform (for a maximum of 30 days) giving the develop time to build an optimal server environment.
Operation and management tools for apps
GREE Cloud powered by GMO allows users to add and delete servers from their web browser via a custom built control panel by GMO Internet. In addition, developers who also use our US data center, can manage their service across two data centers from the same administration screen. In addition, in order to prevent apps being suspended due to sudden spikes in traffic or insufficient bandwidth, a high performance load balancer is provided as a standard feature and is enabled to boost the upper bandwidth limit when necessary.
Analytics Tools Designed Especially for Social Apps
Access analytics and monitoring are critical when fine tuning apps, and GMO Internet has developed tools especially for the task.
By outputting the Apache log using a designated method, basic stats like PVs and UUs are presented in graphical format together
with information including play time and exit events, providing essential data for application tuning.
