GlobalSign Launches iOS Device Authentication Solution for Enterprises
New iOS Identity Certificates allow organizations to control mobile device access to key business applications
Boston, MA, December 8, 2011- GlobalSign (www.globalsign.com), one of the leading providers of Digital Certificates worldwide, today announced the launch of iOS Identity Certificates for iOS authentication. iOS Identity Certificates are Digital Certificates designed specifically for iOS devices (iPad, iTouch, iPhone, etc) providing Certificate-based authentication and allowing enterprises to control access to core business services such as Exchange, ActiveSync, VPNs, WPA2, and Enterprise Wi-Fi networks.
Every day the number of companies and their employees relying on iOS devices to conduct business is increasing and more business users than ever have the flexibility to stay connected whether in the office or on the road. While this increased level of connectivity is beneficial for business, opening sensitive business services to mobile device users creates serious security risks and vulnerabilities that must be addressed.
GlobalSign’s iOS Identity Certificates solution mitigates these risks with certificate-based authentication. Network Administrators can issue Certificates to approved mobile devices, allowing employees to access business services without requiring them to relinquish control of their mobile devices.
iOS Identity Certificates are packaged as an Enterprise PKI (ePKI) solution, using GlobalSign’s robust SaaS platform for managing multiple Digital Certificates. Key benefits to the ePKI service include:
- Easy management of Certificate lifecycles (issuing, revoking, cancelling, reissuing, etc.)
- Streamlined distribution of configuration profiles using the iPhone configuration utility, including passcode policies, Wi-Fi, VPNs,

“The threat network access via mobile devices poses to organizations was a hot topic at many security conferences this year, including RSA and EWF”, said Lila Kee, Chief Product Officer, GlobalSign US. “We believe our iOS Identity Certificates are a perfect fit for the ‘bring your own device’ era. By offering an easy to implement and cost-effective device authentication solution, they allow organizations to balance employee desire to use their own iOS devices for work and the need to protect against unauthorized access to key business applications.”
Organizations can purchase iOS Identity Certificates for as few as 5 users. Introductory pricing is now available starting at $425/ per year for a 10-pack of 1 year validity certificates. Other volumes and validity periods are available; please contact GlobalSign to learn more.
