Onamae.com Announces Opening of Sunrise Phase for New JP.NET Domain
Tokyo - January 17, 2012 -- Onamae.com, the ICANN-accredited registrar operated by GMO Internet, announces the opening today of the sunrise phase for new third-level domain jp.net.
Japan oriented domain, jp.net is the latest third-level domain to be launched by registry operator, CentralNic.
With .jp in the second-level representing Japan and .net at the top-level originally derived from network and associated with networking technologies, Onamae.com expects to see strong demand for jp.net from Japanese technology companies, organizations, brands and services.
In globally recognized extensions such as .com and .net. fewer and fewer short, easy-to-remember character strings are available. New third-level domain, .jp.net opens up new opportunities for registering high-exposure character strings that are unobtainable in .com or .net.
jp.net Sunrise Phase
The Sunrise phase protects trademark holder rights by allowing owners to register trademarks in advance of the .jp.net extension being opened up to general availability. Where multiple applications are received for the same character string an auction will be held to determine the registrant.
