Cloud Based Social Game Hosting Solution GMO AppsCloud Surpasses 1,000 App Milestone
Tokyo – December 17, 2012 – GMO Internet today announces that cloud based social games hosting solution GMO AppsCloud now hosts over 1,000 game titles.
Fuelled by growth of local game platforms such as Gree and Mobage, as well as increased smartphone usage and subsequently increased interaction with smartphone application stores such as AppStore® and GooglePlay™, the social game market in Japan is growing rapidly. As a result we are seeing many new entrants to the market.
Launched in August 2010, GMO AppsCloud is a cloud based hosting solution optimized for developers and operators of social games. Recently the service added a data center on the West Coast of the United States in order to respond to the needs of the many Japanese game developers who are seeking to broaden the distribution of their applications.
“We believe a deep understanding of game developers needs, and the ability to quickly identify market trends, have helped us to reach this milestone of 1,000 apps,” says Koichi Takada, Manager of the hosting division at GMO Internet. “Already our solutions allow developers to distribute their games effeciently in Japan and the United States, and our next goal is to continue widening support to new regions.”
