Paperboy&co. and NTT SMARTCONNECT Begin Trial of Real Time SNS Communication Tool
Live chatting and text chatting on Kinugasa for up to Eight Users
Tokyo – May 15, 2007 -- GMO Internet Group company, paperboy&co. today begins trialing live SNS site communication on Kinugasa in partnership with NTT SMARTCONNECT CORPORATION.
Kinugasa is a paperboy&co. Social Networking Service (SNS). Accessible by computer and mobile phone, the service now has over 55,000 users.
The NTT SMARTCONNECT Realtime Collabo platform features text chatting and high sound quality live chatting for up to eight users. It also includes a digital image sharing function. This is a Windows only application that makes real time communication a reality.
In the joint trial, Realtime Collabo will be introduced to Kinugasa and the possibility of real time communication on SNS services will be evaluated by looking at actual use of the platform by Kinugasa members.
Objective of the Real Time Communication Trial
Communication in current SNS services is non-real time. It involves users writing a diary or posting to a bulletin board and other participants viewing the information at a later time. Under the trial we aim to provide a new method of communication for use in addition to existing methods. Realtime Collabo is a tool that makes communication without time delay possible. We are investigating the possibility of real time communication on an SNS service by introducing the tool for a limited time and evaluating user experience.
About the Introduction of Real Time Collabo to Kinugasa
Kinugasa users will be able to try Realtime Collabo on Kinugasa during the trial period that runs until August 31. Registered Realtime Collabo users simply click on a button to begin a live or text chat with other registered users. Other features including the digital image sharing function are easy to use and expand communication.
Live chat is a clear, high sound quality chat function. Up to eight users can join the discussion allowing the tool to also be used for conference calls.
During the trial period we will be giving away headsets to the first 200 people that register as Realtime Collabo users and complete a simple questionnaire. We want to ensure that the maximum number of Kinugasa users have the opportunity to experience high sound quality live-chatting.
Paperboy&co. expects the new tool to dramatically improve SNS communication. We are also considering introducing it to the SNS construction service Grouptube.
Paperboy&co. aims to continue encouraging new forms of communication and contributing to the promotion of communication over the Internet.
