GMO Internet Produces 3DCG Short Animation
Super Dimension Firewall Cheese Neapolitan
5,000 copies of the original DVD to be given away each day at Comic Market 85
Tokyo, Japan – December 27, 2013 – GMO Internet, Inc. 3DCG short animation (120 seconds), Super Dimension Firewall Cheese Neapolitan, will premiere on YouTube, as well as the film’s official website at JST 6am on December 29, 2013. On the same day, GMO Internet will be giving away 5,000 copies of the original DVD every day at Japan’s largest comic book event, Comic Market.
About the Production
Super Dimension Firewall Cheese Neapolitan is a short animation starring Anzu Mikumo, the official character of cloud hosting solution for game apps, GMO AppsCloud, and her cousin ConoHa, who is the official character of GMO Internet’s flexible and easy-to-use VPS solution, Conoha byGMO.
Animation
The animation was created by studio khara, the same studio that produced the 2012 animation, Evangelion: 3.0 You Can (Not) Redo, that attracted 3.82 million viewers in Japan. However, Super Dimension Firewall Cheese Neapolitan is not a hand-drawn animation, but a fully 3DCG movie, created by the studio’s digital division.
Soundtrack
The soundtrack features songs composed by Tomokazu Tashiro who also wrote well-known, tracks from the Haruhi Suzumiya series, The world is all one !! from THE IDOLM@STER 2, and CHOIR JAIL from Dusk Maiden of Amnesia.
The music is arranged by Kota Takahashi, whose music is known from ACE COMBAT 2, Door to Phantomile, and the Ridge Racer series, and UZA who contributed lyrics, also wrote lyrics for The Prince of Tennis series.
The songs are sung by actresses Maaya Uchida and Sumire Uesaka who play the roles of Anzu Mikumo and ConoHa Mikuno.
DVD Cover
The DVD cover features illustration by Shidu.(1st PLACE Co Ltd.), the illustrator Kagerou Project which has sold over 2 million books, and received over 20 million views on NicoNico, as well as books and illustrations including Kagerou Daze.
Background to the Short Animation
In the anime world, CG technology has received a lot of attention for its low cost and efficiency in comparison to cell animation era productions. However, many fans of the genre believe that films made with CG technology lose the anime-feel. In this production by studio khara, the entire production, including the characters, is created using CG techonolgy, and in that sense the film is epoch-making.
At GMO Internet, one of our main focuses is to develop products and provide support for creators and engineers, and producing this CG animation film highlights that goal and sets our Web Infrastructure segment apart from our competitors.

About the Comic Market DVD Giveaway and Stamp Rally
GMO Internet will be exhibiting at the Comic Market 85 event December 29-31, 2013 (Booth no: 314 west). Each day we will be giving away 5,000 copies of the original DVD at the booth.
Also at Comic Market, GMO Internet will be participating in a stamp rally with other exhibitors at the event, Microsoft Japan, Unity Technologies Japan, and DeNA. Collect the required stamps during the event to receive limited edition novelties produced in collaboration by the four companies.
The Story
