GlobalSign Collaborates with JC Square, a Leading Korean Company in IoT Segment: Realizing IoT platform that secures wide-ranging IoT devices

Tokyo, Japan – January 31, 2017 – GMO GlobalSign (www.globalsign.com), a leading provider of identity and security solutions for the Internet of Everything (IoE), and JC Square (http://www.en.jc-square.com/), a leading Korean provider of Internet of Things (IoT) platform installed in electronic devices, agreed to collaborate to realize a secure IoT environment.

The first step of this collaboration is to integrate GlobalSign’s digital certificates issuing system with JC Square’s axonPLATFORM. GlobalSign will develop and offer IoT-driven services in collaboration with JC Square.

【Service Collaboration Overview】

With the spread of the concept of IoT, various devices such as mobile and wearable devices, industrial machines, automobiles, and home appliances recently became IoT enabled. Communication in IoT should be flexible and reliable. It is also important to authorize and control access of every device by digital certificates, and to facilitate a secure IoT environment by encryption (SSL). However, if various devices become IoT enabled and large number of devices are connected, the automatic installation of digital certificates will be necessary.

GlobalSign offers Client Certificates and other types of digital certificate that verify the identity of an owner of the device in which GlobalSign’s digital certificate is installed. Client Certificate is compatible with various certificate profiles

that are tailored to devices and purposes. GlobalSign’s High Volume Digital Certificate Issuance Platform is capable of issuing thousands of certificates per second, meeting quantitative needs and a need for IoT’s goods and services to be flexible and fast.

JC Square offers axonPLATFORM, a platform for connecting every device to Internet, to mainly home appliance manufacturers and electronics manufacturers. Connecting Internet environment with electronic devices through axonPLATFORM will realize a convenient IoT environment that can be controlled through devices such as smartphone. In-house development of the platform that is required for IoT environment is unnecessary, lowering the barrier to entry into IoT market for small to medium-sized enterprises. JC Square has expertise in connecting Internet environment with electronic devices and in the development of dedicated smartphone application, and is an excellent partner in IoT industry.

GlobalSign believes integrating its digital certificates issuing system with JC Square’s IoT platform will realize “the automatic installation of digital certificates onto electronic devices” that is demanded in IoT market. GlobalSign and JC Square agreed today to collaborate to realize a secure IoT environment.

The first step of this collaboration is to integrate GlobalSign’s scalable digital certificates issuing system, which is compatible with IoT’s goods and services, with JC Square’s axonPLATFORM. GlobalSign will offer IoT-driven services in collaboration with JC Square.

As large number of devices are connected in IoT environment, the automatic installation of digital certificates is necessary. GlobalSign’s high-speed, high-volume digital certificates issuing system can integrate with JC Square’s axonPLATFORM via API

and enable the automatic, high-speed, high-volume installation of Client Certificates on electronic devices by home appliance manufacturers and electronics manufacturers that use axonPLATFORM. GlobalSign will carry out development and verification in collaboration with JC Square, and plans to offer the above service as added feature of axonPLATFORM by March 31, 2017, targeting home appliance manufacturers and electronics manufacturers.
