Giving Children Another Chance to Read a Good Book
Tokyo – June 21, 2007 -- GMO Internet Group company JWord, the company that operates the Japanese keyword search service of the same name, last Friday launched the second stage of the community service project, Give Children the Chance to Read a Good Book. The project is being supported by Morning Reading Program.
Give Children the Chance to Read a Good Book
The initiative we call Give Children the Chance to Read a Good Book donates books to elementary schools and encourages children to read. First launched in February, the project was well received and as a result this round will be a click fundraising project involving not only JWord but other supporters of the cause as well. Internet users can go to the official campaign site and click on the logo of a participating company (see below) to access the company’s site and make a virtual donation. Click donations will close as soon as one million yen is reached and books will be donated to five specially selected elementary schools. All books will be purchased by JWord and participating companies. Click donations won’t cost the user a cent! |
Book purchases will be made according to the wishes of the selected elementary schools. We will be seeking applications from elementary schools that wish to receive books on our official site when we have raised one million yen. Elementary schools that would like to receive books should go the official program site and apply under the school principal’s name. We have divided the country into five areas and will present books to one school in each area.
